1. Registration
How do I become an advertiser?
Advertising on Research is Cool is very simple and registering with us is completely free, just fill out the advertiser registration form, an overview of the steps of advertising with us can be found on that page as well.
Why am I being asked to register?
So we can link the adverts you post on the site with your profile - that way you'll be able to view how many times your adverts have been viewed and log in at any time to submit more adverts. Registering with us as an advertiser is completely free.
I am worried about spam, will you pass on my details to others?
No need to worry about spam, we can guarantee that will never pass on your email address to any third party organisations, and your email address will also not be passed on to any registered users or displayed on the site; all communications between users are done via the site itself. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office and are therefore legally bound to abide by the Data Protection Act of 1998. Our ICO registration number is Z12654690. The ICO is an independent authority that promotes public access to official information and in protecting your information. Its website can be found at http://www.ico.gov.uk/
As an advertiser, do I have the same account options as all other users?
As one of our advertisers you have the same access privileges that other users have. However as we do not ask you to register any keywords on the advertiser registration page you will not to personally engage interact with users who have registered their research profile on R-Net. To be able to interact with other users we need you to additionally register your own research profile on R-Net.
2. Returning to Research is Cool
Do I have to register with Research is Cool every time I come back?
No, if you have already registered in the past you can log in directly to your account using the top right-hand corner with your email address and password. If you have forgotten your password you can use the 'forgotten password' option.
What if I have forgotten my password?
Don't worry, all you have to do is to click on 'Forgotten password' link on the login page and insert your email address (the one you registered with) - your password will be emailed to you straight away to the email address that you registered with.
3. Advertising on Research is Cool
Now that I'm registered as an advertiser how do I advertise on Research is Cool?
Once registered you can access the advertising options by visiting your account options page on the top right-hand side of a page. This page allows you to create a course advert or a job advert.
I would like to advertise a job/course in a subject area that is not on your subject list. What should I do?
If the specific subject area does not fall into any of the broad subject areas in the drop-down menu, you will be given the option to insert the name of your subject area yourself, and we will add it to the drop-down menu within one working day. If on the other hand the subject area does fall within one of the broad areas in the drop-down menu, please select that broader option. We are currently working on making the subject drop-down menu much more specific, and will add an 'advanced search' option in the near future.
I'm trying to create a Job/Course advert but one of the required fields on the online form is not applicable to my advert. What should I do?
First of all, try a way around that by typing in something like TO BE CONFIRMED. If that doesn't work, please do not hesitate to contact us and let us know about your difficulty. Research is Cool is proud to be the most flexible research job site in existence, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
·I'm trying to create a Job/Course advert but I got an error message when I tried to submit the form. What should I do?
Occasionally, there are error messages if you have put an apostrophe in a particular field where there is not supposed to be one (e.g. email). If an error message appears when you submit your form, just click on the 'back' button (so you don't lose what you have filled in) and check the form for apostrophes. If this doesn't work, please report the error occurring via the form on the error message page, or contact us - we will try to fix the problem asap.
4. Types of adverts you can post on Research is Cool
Am I restricted in the type of research jobs I can advertise.
No, Research is Cool has no restrictions on which area of research your job is related to.
Can I advertise voluntary positions?
Yes, Research is Cool is very keen to advertise voluntary placements/jobs. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any ideas for how to encourage more of this type of advertisements.
What if I would like to advertise a research job/course outside of academia?
You can advertise anything related to research, whether within or outside academia. Research is Cool is proud to be the most flexible research-related site in existence. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any ideas for how to encourage more adverts coming from outside of academia.
5. Payment
What payment types do you accept?
We currently accept payment via PayPal, Cheque or BACs.
I'm not able to use any of those payment types, am I still able to advertise with Research is Cool?

6. Helping out
I am a university staff member who would like to support the development of Research is Cool. How can I help out?

7. Proposing something new
I can think of a service that would fit in well with Research is Cool, but which is not offered at the moment. What should I do?
